It all started with exploring the programming of the EV3 robot to try and represent travel graphs within the study of functions. The idea emerged of organising a journey where the classroom would take a different position and students would learn in a natural way. All subjects were involved and questions were created along this journey at the various stopping points where students answered these challenges and learned more about the place visited.
Stop 1: Caniço Santo Antão and Espírito Santo Parish Church
Applicability of Rocks and minerals inside the Church: in the tabernacle, on the floor of the ship and in the arch, in the Baptismal font, in the tiles and in the Clerks' Bench.During this journey of knowledge the students had questions to answer from a variety of subjects, in addition to the lecture given by Paula Suzete Vieira.
Stop 2: Museological Nucleus of Caniço
Permanent exhibition: "From Field to City: A real journey through time, customs and traditions
Stop 3: Garajau-Cristo Rei Partial Nature Reserve
Descent in the cable car to Garajau beach where the volcanic cone was observed. The cone was built on a coastal cliff previously carved in a succession of basaltic spills of the Funchal Formation. At the site we can also see two veins that would have fed the later phases of the eruption.
Final stop : Garajau Gardens Caniço
Class 7.2 organised a Gymkhana for Recycling
The students got to know the geological wealth, the applicability of rocks and minerals, the history and culture of our city and even organised a competition on recycling. This trip allowed them to understand and apply many of the contents worked in class in a natural, spontaneous and meaningful way.
